FALL REGULAR SEASON 2016

Broncos Roll Vikings

In week 3 the Broncos needed a win and so did the Vikings with both teams 0-2 someone was going to get it. On a 3rd down play on the 1st drive of the game  "Z" ran 68 yards but was caught at the 3.  Owen busted through the 2 hole for the 1st Broncos score of the year. The response from teammates was amazing the defense proceeded to shut down the vikings on every drive not allowing a single 1st down.  Offensively the Broncos Fabian Scored 4 td's, Owen had 2 and Daigan got 1 TD.  Scoring on all 7 of its possessions ending the game early on the 9th play of the 4th quarter for their 1st win 45-0

Falcons fly by Broncos on Friday night

The Broncos showed great progress on offense in the Friday night game. The offensive line started to to click driving down the field but were unable to find the end zone for the 2nd week in a row. The defense who punished Falcons runners gave up a 100 yard run after having the runner in the backfield. and then the 4th down woes hit again in the 3rd quarter. The Falcons Defense scored the final TD making it 18-0 and another loss for the Broncos

Broncos fall to Saints

In game one the Broncos just couldn't seem to get things going against a powerful Saints defense. On the defensive side of the ball the Broncos played very well except on 4th down on 3 different drives which was the difference in this defensive battle.

Broncos Saturday Scrimmages

Early Saturday morning the Broncos took the field for the 1st time in 2016. The big questions what will the defense be like? Who would step up and be the leaders?  This young and inexperienced team had yet to face an offense so coaches were very concerned.

1st up was the enormous Eagles

Immediately the Broncos Defense was dominate in 2 series 20 plays they gave up no long runs and no run over 2 yards. On the offensive side of the ball the Broncos moved the ball very well getting an average of 4 yards a carry but nothing over 15 yards. The Offensive line did pretty good for their 1st outing.  Coaches were very happy with the effort of all the players

2nd Scrimmage was the Texans

The Broncos started out on defense again the Texans were a little tougher and were able to get a few runs of 4-6 yards with their tough wedge but the Broncos defense was very aggressive again and dominated in true Broncos fashion. On the offensive side of the ball things clicked a little better and they were able to have 3 break away runs and 1 completed pass that went for big yards.  Now the coaches felt much better about the Broncos abilities on both sides of the ball.

3rd Scrimmage

The Jaguars who are dubbed the best in the league?  How would the Broncos do with the more experienced team. Starting on Defense again the Jaguars worked the run for their 1st 6-8 plays and the Broncos defense was stout giving up no run over 4 yards. The Jaguars then went to the passing game and in 3 passing attempts the Broncos gave up 1 TD, got 1 INT and the 3rd pass fell to the ground, considering this was the 1st 3 passes the defense had to cover Coaches were very happy. The offense struggled with the blitzing defense, but once they started to change up the snap count the 3-4 yard runs started to come.

All 3 scrimmages were productive and now coaches can really get to work.

2016 Broncos Parent Letter

Welcome to the Broncos

I am Coach Scott Bradley, my assistants are Greg Sampson running the defense. Rob Annis will be working with the offense and defensive line. We all volunteer our time for your players. I have been coaching in TJFL since 1992. I have no children on the team and because of that every non X player has the opportunity to try out for every position. The best player in the coach’s opinion will play in each position. Ultimately every player will have a starting position. If your player wants to be a QB or RB he has to earn it and players can start at a position and lose it to someone else.

I am very dedicated to fundamentals and conditioning, we will hit a lot and we will do some tough drills. We are typically a smash mouth jamb it down your throat football team. We are going to try to bring out the vicious side of your player every practice. Some players will wish to quit after a few days your support will prevent that. We do not want any player to quit and will try to explain to them that it will get easier. Your player may have played before but with the Broncos players will be coached.  I believe we as coaches must find each players strengths and weaknesses and strive to make them better every practice. Our 1st goal is to learn to play football as a TEAM. As Broncos we are expected to make the playoffs, we may have a loss or 2 and that’s ok but our 2nd goal to win the Turkey Bowl.

If you have concerns about something coaches are doing talk to me before or after practice away from the players. Questions are great but Yelling at me will end our conversation, so will bashing other players on the team.

I expect all players to sell all 50 raffle tickets it is not an option and more if you can. Historically the Broncos have been a top selling team. It’s a competition and I expect us to win that too. I expect my players to keep their grades up and behave at home and school, and upon parents requests I will take disciplinary actions. School will never take a back seat to football.

We will be practicing at the Thornton Sports Complex in the very back of the parking lot. We will practice starting on Tuesday August 2nd , then Wednesday and  Thursday all 6pm -8pm

After we get our equipment we will practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6pm -8pm We have a scrimmage on the 13th from 8 am -12 pm. Then we will practice the 15th-18th.  Practice the 23rd- 25th which brings us to our 1st game on the 27th.  The following week we will go the 29th – 1st .   Starting in September after labor day  we will go to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6pm – 8pm for the rest of the season. With games on Saturday and one Friday night game to be determined

I expect parents and player to take this commitment very seriously, and be at all practices and games and arrive at least 10 minutes before every practice and be in full pads with practice pants and the practice jersey on. I provide all players with practice jerseys and expect to get them back every year.  Players missing practice could miss playing time on game day, your player joined a team sport and needs to be at all events.  On Game days all players need to show up 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.

WATER / SPORTS DRINKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT BRING  LOTS OF THEM TO ALL PRACTICES DEHYDRATION CAN KILL PLAYERS. Water will be at all games but you can also bring your own

Before each game we have a quick team prayer it is as simple as possible, it goes like this.

Dear Lord, please bless all the players on this field, keep them safe and help them play to the best of their ability.

Amen

I am not trying to push any religion and in no way am intending to offend anyone.

During the course of the season players will suffer injuries if an injury warrants it we will call you on to the field or practice field. We are trying to bring out a toughness that all players do have but if mom runs to the rescue for every owies they won’t get tougher . So I explain to the players there are football injuries and owies. An injury means a concussion, broken bones sprained ankle or other more serious injuries. An owie is bruised hands, stepped on, jamb fingers and cuts. At no time will we take any chances with neck or back injuries and if I suspect your player has a concussion you will need to take them to the doctor and he’ll need a release saying he’s ok to fully participate youth football and I see no need to take a chance with their brain. There are specific guidelines that the CDC requires us to follow after a concussion / head injury and it will be followed.

Remember this is your players youth football we want to make it as much fun as possible and we will work together to make it memorable and affordable. My system works very well and has for a long time. We will not burden you with fundraising for the team we only do a touchdown bucket

I have already bought the socks every player needs to buy 2 pairs one orange and one blue the total is $6.00 and players where one of each at games. I bought 2 dozen of each so if you want more than 1 pair please let me know.

I have a few rules for parents but the Main one is be a fan of your player and team cheer, chant “defense” or just make noise and be a great sport and example.
