Broncos

Regular Season 2014 Fall

Broncos 50 - Cardinals 0

For the second time this season the Broncos rolled over the Cardinals. But this time it was for the right to continue on in the playoffs. After 3 weeks of hard work the revamped offensive line really clicked and did a very good job opening holes and protecting the QB. Socks racked up 3 touchdowns to lead all running backs in scoring. On the defensive side Socks and AA both had 10 tackles each and Riley had 2 interceptions. The Broncos couldn't have asked for a better start in the playoffs

Broncos 0 – Vikings 20

The score does not  always tell the story. The Broncos offense continued to struggle on Saturday. It wasn’t that they weren’t moving the ball it was our own mistakes that seemed to end every drive. If it wasn’t one of the 3 fumbles it was penalties. Because of the offensive struggles the defense who played very well, had to defend a very short field on all but 1 of the Vikings drives.

We are 5th and that isn’t  bad   we will play at 10 am at TSC Next Saturday we will be the visiting team against the Cardinals. Where we plan to get back ok track

Broncos 0 - Dolphins 8

The Dolphins needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive and they came out and physically beat down the Broncos on Saturday. The Broncos just couldn't get anything going on offense against the tough defense who forced 3 fumbles and got 3 sacks. The Broncos defense came back to life after giving up the only score of the game but it wasn't enough. During this brutal game the Broncos lost offensive guard / defensive tackle Stick with what looks like a broken wrist.  So coaches will be patching together the offensive line this week after losing 2 linemen in as many weeks.

Broncos 25 - Steelers 12

The Broncos faced a tough Steelers team and were able to get back in the win column. Running back Donovan started the scoring with a 42 yard run around the left side and in the 3rd quarter he scored again from 6 yards out. Then AA took over scoring from 33 and then a 65 yard kickoff return for his second. The defense gave up 2 scores but also picked off 2 passes 1  by Jay the other by Riley. Coaches couldn’t ask for a better rebound game.

Broncos 0 Eagles 20

In a battle of 2 undefeated teams someone will always go home 2nd guessing what happened. Saturday it was the Broncos who came up short. The boys had a very good 1st quarter and coaches felt good wit 0-0- at the end of the 1st but then the wheels seemed to fall off and the Eagles QB threw a nice pass that put them ahead 6-0. The shell shocked Broncos never recovered and fell for the 1st time this year.

So it will be back to the drawing board for the Broncos coaches who finally were able to see the boys in a tough game and can now fix a few things on both side of the ball.

Broncos 19 - Lions 0

In a brutally ugly game the Broncos came out on top and continued the streak of shut outs. But it wasn’t easy they had to overcome 9 penalties against the defense and 4 on the offense. The defense wouldn’t break even after a string of penalties in the 4th quarter that moved the Lions 40 yards and gave them a 1st and goal at the 9 but the boys stepped up and drove the lions backwards and 4 plays later took over on downs on the 22. Socks lead tacklers with 10, Fabian had 7 and double A and Donovan both had 6. Riley had an interception and 5 tackles and Nathan had a season high 5 tackles

On the offensive side the Broncos only had the ball 29 plays out of 80 for a total of 5 possessions. On the 1st possession 2 plays after having his TD called back Donovan punched it in from 6 yards out. Then on the 2nd possession QB Jay ran it in from the 29. Then o the 4th possession Double A broke free and sprinted 31 yards for the final score

The Broncos showed a lot of heart and got the win in an ugly game what more could a coach want

Broncos 38 - Cardinals 0

Broncos 38 Cardinals 0
The Broncos came out on fire Saturday wanting to prove they are a good team. Scoring on their 1st five possessions and then scoring again on their 7th and final possession, the Broncos dominated the line of scrimmage opening gaping holes for their running backs. Socks scored 3 td’s AA got 2 and although leading in yards Donovan only go one TD. It was a good offensive day

Meanwhile the stingy defense only gave 1 first down and no penalties in their 3rd shutout in as many games. There was nowhere for the Cardinals to run due to the Broncos delivered bruising tackles and when they attempted to pass either X batted it down or Donovan picked it off

It was a very solid game on both offense and defense

Broncos 39 - Jets 0

Broncos 39 – Jets 0

The Broncos and the Jets met this Saturday and the Broncos stingy Defense continued to dominate the football field, allowing the Jets only 2 1st downs and forcing the opponent to go 4 and out 6  times . The defense forced and recovered 1 fumble and intercepted 1 pass and only allowed the Jets to cross mid field 1 time.

On the offensive side on the 1st play from scrimmage Donovan sprinted around the end for a 41 yard TD for his 1st of 2 TDS on the day.  On the 2nd possession on 3rd down, Jay scrambled to the end zone 15 yards for his 1st of 3 TDS on the day. Double D was not going to be denied with the run of the day, he was hit at the line of scrimmage but bounced off the tackler then broke at least 3 other tackles as he  juked and shuffled his way 36 yards to the end zone. The Offensive Line was stellar and QB Jay even completed 1 pass

 OK

Great job players

Broncos 25 – Packers 0

On a cool Thornton Colorado afternoon the Broncos and Packers took the field for the 1st gme of the 2014 season.  The Packers won the coin toss but after that it was all Broncos. In the 1st quarter Oller powered his way through the line and rumbled 40 yards to the end zone for the 1st score of the season. Then in the 2nd quarter  Donovan  sprinted around the outside for a 15 yard touchdown. After a long drive of 12 plays in the 3rd quarter  Qb  Jay swept his way into the end zone for the 3rd score of the day. The final score came from Socks who dominated the 2nd half and in the 4th quarter he was finally able to cross the goal line. The undersized offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage the entire game making gaping holes and protecting the Qb on the few passes attempted

The Broncos defense only allowed two 1st downs and no run over 7 yards and no completed passes.  In typical Broncos fashion the aggressive defense dominated every play Sock lead the team in tackles followed by Fabian and double A

Great job players

Broncos Parent letter

Welcome to the Broncos

I am Coach Scott Bradley, my assistants are Greg Sampson running the defense and Ray Sutter helping me on the offense. Team Mom is Molly Maguire and she would love help. We all volunteer our time for your players. I have been coaching in TJFL since 1992. I have no children on the team and because of that every non X player has the opportunity to try out for every position. The best player in the coach’s opinion will play in each position. Ultimately every player will have a starting position. If your player wants to be a QB or RB he has to earn it and players can start at a position and lose it to someone else.

I am very dedicated to fundamentals and conditioning, we will hit a lot and we will do some tough drills.   We are typically a smash mouth jamb it down your throat football team. We are going to try to bring out the vicious side of your player every practice. Some players will wish to quit after a few days your support will prevent that. We do not want any player to quit and will try to explain to them that it will get easier. Your player may have played before but with the Broncos players will be coached.  I believe we as coaches must find each players strengths and weaknesses and strive to make them better every practice Our 1st goal is to learn to play football. As Broncos we are expected to make the playoffs, we may have a loss or 2 and that’s ok but our 2nd goal to win the Turkey Bowl.

If you have concerns about something coaches are doing talk to me before or after practice away from the players. Questions are great but Yelling at me will end our conversation, so will bashing other players on the team.

I expect all players to sell all 50 raffle tickets  it is not an option and more if you can. Historically the Broncos have been a top selling team in the league. It a competition and I expect us to win. I expect my players to keep their grades up and behave at home and school, and upon parents requests I will take disciplinary actions. School will never take a back seat to football.

We will be practicing at the Thornton Sports Complex in the very back of the parking lot. We will practice starting on Monday 4th, Wednesday, Thursday all 6pm -8pm

Equipment hand out will be AUGUST 9TH at the equipment shed 1301 Elmwood Lane  our time is 8:30 am so we need everyone to be there at 7:30 am be sure to wear light clothes and no hats If you plan on cutting your hair do it before equipment hand out.

After we get our equipment for the remainder of August we will practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6pm -8pm We have a scrimmage on the 16th from 8 am -12 pm. Starting in September we will go to Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6pm – 8pm for the rest of the season. With games on Saturday and one Friday night game to be determined

I expect parents and player to take this commitment very seriously, and be at all practices and games and arrive at least 10 minutes before every practice and be in full pads with practice pants and the practice jersey on. Players missing practice could miss playing time on game day your player joined a team sport.  On Game days all players need to show up 1 hour prior to the scheduled game time.

WATER / SPORTSDRINKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT BRING  LOTS OF THEM TO ALL PRATICES DEHYDRATION CAN KILL PLAYERS. Players must have 1-2  bottles of water per practice. Water will be at all games but you can also bring your own

Before each game we have a quick team prayer it is as simple as possible, it goes like this.

Dear Lord, please bless all the players on this field, keep them safe and help them play to the best of their ability.

Amen

I am not trying to push any religion and in no way am intending to offend anyone. It is just who I am and what we do.

During the course of the season players will suffer injuries. They coaches will handle all injuries. If an injury warrants it we will call you on to the field or practice field. We are trying to bring out a toughness that all players do have but if mom runs to the rescue for every owie they won’t get tougher . So I explain to the players there are football injuries and owies. An injury means a concussion, broken bones sprained ankle or other more serious injuries. An owie is a bruised hand, stepped on, jamb fingers and cuts. At no time will we take any chances with neck or back injuries and if I suspect your player has a concussion you will need to take them to the doctor and he’ll need a release saying he’s ok to fully participate youth football and I see no need to take a chance with their brain. There are specific guidelines that the CDC requires us to follow after a concussion. I am under the belief that because this is youth football and they have a whole lifetime ahead of them 1 concussion should end the season. I cannot require you to pull your child after a concussion but I will require players to comply with the recovery process implemented by the CDC.

Remember this is your players youth football we want to make it as much fun as possible and we will work together to make it memorable and affordable. My system works very well and has for a long time. We will not burden you with fundraising for the team we only do a touchdown bucket

I have already bought the socks every player needs to buy 1 pair they are orange and blue bumble bee style this year and the total is $7.00 and players are to wear them at games. I bought 2 dozen of each so if you want more than 1 pair please let me know after everyone gets 1 pair

I have a few rules for parents but the Main one is be a fan of your player and team cheer, chant “defense” or just make noise and be a great sport and example.

1.  No parents are allowed on the field during practice they must stay outside the fence.

2.  If you wish to coach you need to fill out the application and pass a background check get concussion certified .  Then we can talk

3.  If you are not a coach you will have no input on anything that happens on the field. So do not make any suggestions and do not undermine the coaches.

4.  Never make any comments to the referees ever this only ends bad for you I will handle the

Refs, if you get the team a penalty you will be removed from my sideline

5.   No drugs or alcohol at practice or games ever please don’t show up drunk to pick up players.

6.   Practice ends at 8pm make sure you pick up you player at 8pm I need to get home too.

7.   Do not wash pants in bleach or with pads in. DO WASH THEM no duct tape or medical tape

on pants packing tape is ok. Don’t add patches or names
