Cheer faq
What is the practice schedule?
Depends on the cheerleader's grade, and is up to the coaches to pick the days and times. PreK & Kindergarten practice twice a week for 1 hour; 1st and 2nd grade practice 3 times a week for 90 minutes; 3rd - 8th practice 3 times a week for 2 hours.
When are games?
Games are held on Saturday, unless weather delays or cancellations occur. TJFL does not cancel games due to weather, all game cancellations are the result of field closures, which are determined by the City of Thornton.
How many cheerleaders are on a team?
Our team sizes vary by season, but we have roughly 10-20 cheerleaders on a squad
What is the cutoff date for ages in each group?
TJFL uses the athlete's grade level for the upcoming school year to determine the division in which the player is placed. TJFL athletes range in age from 4-14. If a player is 15 as of October 1st of the current year, they are not eligible to play in TJFL.
What equipment is provided?
TJFL provides its cheerleaders with a shell, skirt, and poms, which are to be returned at the end of the season. We also supply spanks and warm ups that the cheerleader gets to keep. It is the parent's responsibility to purchase white shoes. Some coaches have extra expenses such as bows, undershirts, and bags.
What happens after I register?
Depending on how close we are to the start of the season will determine how soon you will hear from a coach regarding team information, practice schedules, etc.
What type of routines do you teach?
We train on all cheer fundamentals, including but not limited to, motions, jumps, and stunting while focusing on sideline cheers and a fun, energetic poms halftime routine
What is your refund policy?
TJFL does not provide refunds, all sales are final.
