Broncos

Regular Season 2013 Fall

Broncos 19 - Jets 18

The Broncos barely pulled out the win against the tough Jets who were fighting for a higher position in the playoffs . The Broncos started with 3 drives for 3 scores in the 1st half but with 2 plays left in the 1st half the fumbling started and in the second half every possession ending in a fumble. The Jets offense ran wild in the 1st half until coaches discovered that the referees were not allowing the Broncos defensive tackles to play where they should have been. Once the referees were straightened out the Jets couldn't move the ball and the Broncos pulled out the win finishing the season 7-1

Broncos 7 - Steelers 12

The Broncos started out very sluggish and the Steelers players came to play. It was a rough week of practice with players bickering among themselves and not listening. As a result the overconfident Broncos were caught off guard in the 1st half and couldn't overcome the horrible officiating and a stout Steeler defense. The Broncos Defense was again tough as always and did their best to keep the team in the game but the offense turned it on just a little to late.
But sometimes losing a game can be the best thing to a team and we all had to learn a few things from it

Broncos 31- Dolphins 8

The Broncos defense was on fire again this week not allowing the Dolphins to have the ball for more then 4 plays at a time and forcing 5 turnovers. Special teams did allow a touchdown on a kick off giving them something to work on. On the offensive side after missing last weeks game Double A scored 3 TD's and Lt has 2 and Gilbert got 1 The offensive line again was great opening holes and protecting the QB the Offense had the ball for 49 plays and all but 1 went for positive yardage, as the domination continues. With this win the Broncos have clinched the division and because of the realignment moving them to the eastern division the Broncos for the 1st time are the Eastern division Champions.

Broncos 34 - Packers 6

In a troubled week involving the loss of a running back and a 1 game suspension for the head coach Scott Bradley the Broncos respond to the controversy by thumping the packers 34-6. But the score didn't really reflect how dominate the Broncos defense was The Packers only first down came by penalty and the Broncos completely shut down their passing attack. On the offensive side of the ball Assistant coachRaymond Sutter Jr calling his first game ever took a few series to find his groove but 3rd play of his 3rd drive the Broncos punched it in Running backs Salvador, LT, Gilbert and Jay all stepped up their game and pounded the ball down the field grinding out 4-5 yard chunks on almost every carry thanks to the gaping holes opened by the offensive line. With only 3 games left the Broncos have secured a spot in the playoffs and now must stay focused and continue to get better

Broncos 19 - Cardinals 0

Broncos 19 Cardinals 0
In a very ugly game the defense missing Jay knew they were going to have to step it up and they did with Braden getting 2 of the Broncos record setting 3 safeties. The defense never allowed the Cardinals to cross the line of scrimmage and forced 5 fumbles recovering 4. In the first shut out of the year
On the other side of the ball the offense struggled against the tough Cardinals defense and even with the short field the Broncos offense could only muster up 2 touchdowns both by Double A.

Broncos 34 - Eagles 6

Friday night football under the lights

The Broncos (2-0) stepped on to the field wanting to remain undefeated with their grind it out offense against the Eagles (1-1) passing offense. The Broncos kicked off and seconds later after a punishing hit and fumble recovery by Bryant the offense stepped on the field. Then 1 play and 30 yards later LT was in the endzone. The brutal Broncos defense shut down the running game and the quick passing game of the Eagles, picking off 4 passes and allowing no run for over 4 yards and a total of 2 first downs. But the Eagles did get on touchdown pass on a quick slant. The Broncos defense kept the Eagles pinned inside the 30 yard line all night giving the offense a short field on every drive.

The Broncos offensive line who really stood out, opening holes and creating lanes and not allowing anyone in our backfield. Scoring was led by Double A 3-Tds, Lt 2-Tds and Gilbert 1-Td Qb Socks completed 2 passes to Anthony one for a 2 point conversion. It was another great team effort for the now 3-0 Broncos

Broncos 26 - Vikings 6

In the past 8 years when they played the Broncos vs the Vikings game has been played in cold, rainy, windy, miserable conditions with the Vikings always coming out on top. The Broncos last win in the series was in 1997. So both coaches were expecting bad weather for the 2013 game and it as looking like the bad weather cycle would continue. The rain began on Tuesday and then the flooding Colorado was soaked. Saturday the sky cleared up for all the early games but looking to the west at 3 pm the dark clouds were rolling in and it was looking like the 2 teams would be playing in another ugly game. Amazingly at 4 pm the clouds parted and as the game began you could feel the energy of the players and the coaches and parents on the Broncos starting to pulsate. The Broncos defense was almost perfect allowing the Vikings no 1st downs, the Vikings did get a score on a very nice play which caught the Broncos at just the right time. But the Broncos offense was really the story with running backs LT and Gilbert grinding out chunks of yardage and then AA sprinting to the end zone on 3 occasions and back up RB Jay busting 1 up the middle for 45 yards. Qb sock complete 1 pass to AA and Lt completed 2 to Anthony it was a very well rounded win for the Broncos who are now 2-0 with a game this Friday night

Broncos 13 - Lions 7

It another great football game in the 20 year rivalry the Broncos 13 the Lions 7. The Broncos drew first blood and it was 7- 0 at the half. Then the Broncos scored again in the 3rd quarter making it 13-0. The Broncos defense looked great , But the Lions had no quit and scored in the 4th making it 13-7 then after a great defensive stand by the Lions with 1 play left they fell just few yards short of tying it up, on a very exciting pass play where 2 Broncos defenders tipped the ball the Lions receiver still caught the ball but was tackled at the 5. What a great way to start the season

Cold stones after 5th win

WE ARE READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL

Its been a long time coming and finally week 1 is here.

The boys have been busting their butts to get ready and now its time to put everything to the test.

WE ARE READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL !!!

Broncos Parent letter

Welcome to the Broncos

I am Coach Scott Bradley, my assistants are Greg Sampson running the defense and Ray Sutter helping me on the offense.  Rob Annis will be working with the offense and defensive line. Team Moms are Sandy Bradley and Lynne Gomez. We all volunteer our time for your players. I have been coaching in TJFL since 1992. I have no children on the team and because of that every non X player has the opportunity to try out for every position. The best player in the coach’s opinion will play in each position. Ultimately every player will have a starting position. If your player wants to be a QB or RB he has to earn it and players can start at a position and lose it to someone else.

I am very dedicated to fundamentals and conditioning, we will hit a lot and we will do some tough drills.   We are typically a smash mouth jamb it down your throat football team. We are going to try to bring out the vicious side of your player every practice. Some players will wish to quit after a few days your support will prevent that. We do not want any player to quit and will try to explain to them that it will get easier. Your player may have played before but with the Broncos players will be coached.  I believe we as coaches must find each players strengths and weaknesses and strive to make them better every practice Our 1st goal is to learn to play football. As Broncos we are expected to make the playoffs, we may have a loss or 2 and that’s ok but our 2nd goal to win the Turkey Bowl.

If you have concerns about something coaches are doing talk to me before or after practice away from the players. Questions are great but Yelling at me will end our conversation, so will bashing other players on the team.

I expect all players to sell all 50 raffle tickets  it is not an option and more if you can. Historically the Broncos have been a top selling team in the league. It a competition and I expect us to win. I expect my players to keep their grades up and behave at home and school, and upon parents requests I will take disciplinary actions. School will never take a back seat to football.

We will be practicing at the Thornton Sports Complex in the very back of the parking lot. We will practice starting on Monday 5th, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all 6pm -8pm

After we get our equipment for the remainder of August we will practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6pm -8pm We have a scrimmage on the 17th from 8 am -12 pm. Starting in September we will go to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6pm – 8pm for the rest of the season. With games on Saturday and one Friday night game to be determined

I expect parents and player to take this commitment very seriously, and be at all practices and games and arrive at least 10 minutes before every practice and be in full pads with practice pants and the practice jersey on. Players missing practice could miss playing time on game day your player joined a team sport.  On Game days all players need to show up 1 hour prior to the scheduled game time.

WATER / SPORTSDRINKS ARE VERY IMPORTANT BRING  LOTS OF THEM TO ALL PRATICES DEHYDRATION CAN KILL PLAYERS. Water will be at all games but you can also bring your own

Before each game we have a quick team prayer it is as simple as possible, it goes like this.

Dear Lord, please bless all the players on this field, keep them safe and help them play to the best of their ability.

Amen

I am not trying to push any religion and in no way am intending to offend anyone.

During the course of the season players will suffer injuries if an injury warrants it we will call you on to the field or practice field. We are trying to bring out a toughness that all players do have but if mom runs to the rescue for every owies they won’t get tougher . So I explain to the players there are football injuries and owies. An injury means a concussion, broken bones sprained ankle or other more serious injuries. An owie is bruised hands, stepped on, jamb fingers and cuts. At no time will we take any chances with neck or back injuries and if I suspect your player has a concussion you will need to take them to the doctor and he’ll need a release saying he’s ok to fully participate youth football and I see no need to take a chance with their brain. There are specific guidelines that the CDC requires us to follow after a concussion

Remember this is your players youth football we want to make it as much fun as possible and we will work together to make it memorable and affordable. My system works very well and has for a long time. We will not burden you with fundraising for the team we only do a touchdown bucket

I have already bought the socks every player needs to buy 2 pairs one orange and one blue the total is $6.00 and players where one of each at games. I bought 2 dozen of each so if you want more than 1 pair please let me know. The orange ones are a little darker this year.

I have a few rules for parents but the Main one is be a fan of your player and team cheer, chant “defense” or just make noise and be a great sport and example.

1.  No parents are allowed on the field during practice they must stay outside the fence.

2.  If you wish to coach you need to fill out the application and pass a background check get

concussion certified .  Then we can talk

3.  If you are not a coach you will have no input on anything that happens on the field. So do not

make any suggestions and do not undermine the coaches.

4.  Never make any comments to the referees ever this only ends bad for you I will handle the

Refs, if you get the team a penalty you will be removed from my sideline

5.   No drugs or alcohol at practice or games ever please don’t show up drunk to pick up players.

6.   Practice ends at 8pm make sure you pick up you player at 8pm I need to get home too.

7.   Do not wash pants in bleach or with pads in. DO WASH THEM no duct tape or medical tape

on pants packing tape is ok. Don’t add patches or names

8.   Do not alter the equipment no dark visors. No personal helmets or facemasks

9.   Never bother cheerleader that are on our sideline

10. Do not cross the line marking the players box

11. Do not call coaches or team moms after 10 pm

            A few Player rules

1    DO NOT REMOVE THE STRAP FROM YOUR MOUTH PIECE!!!

2    IF COACHES ARE TALKING DO NOT INTERUPT “LISTEN”

3    RESPECT YOUR TEAMMATES

4    DO YOUR HOMEWORK
